Thought of the Week with thanks to Rafi Goodman.

In this week’s Torah portion, Emor, we explore the theme of “Kiddush
Hashem” – sanctifying God’s name through our actions. The Lubavitcher
Rebbe emphasizes that every Jew has the power and responsibility to
bring holiness into the world through their conduct.

Connecting this to the current situation in Israel, we see a profound
opportunity for Kiddush Hashem. Amidst challenges and conflicts, the
actions of individuals and communities can make a significant impact.

By embodying values of integrity and unity, Israelis can sanctify
God’s name and inspire a sense of hope and moral clarity.

The Rebbe’s teachings remind us that even in difficult times, our
behaviour can elevate the collective spirit. By striving for peace,
justice, and kindness, we reflect the highest ideals of our faith and
contribute to the sanctification of God’s name. This not only
strengthens the internal fabric of society but also sets a powerful
example for the world, demonstrating resilience and commitment to
higher principles.
