Mr. Bleich served as Special Counsel to the President at the White House until he was appointed in November 2009 to serve as the U.S. Ambassador to Australia.

From 1992 to March 2009, Mr. Bleich was a litigation partner at Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP. In 2006 he was honoured as California Lawyer Attorney of the Year, was listed among the Daily Journal’s Top 100 most influential attorneys in California and was also regularly listed in America’s Best Lawyers.

Mr. Bleich also served as the Chair of the California State University Board of Trustees, the President of the California State Bar, the President of the Bar Association of San Francisco, and the Chair of the ABA’s Amicus Curiae Committee.
